 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  NIGERIA'S ENVOY TO GUINEA-BISSAU IS DEAD 


Nigeria's Acting Head of Mission in Guinea-Bissau, Zainab Joy Momodu, is dead. The Chargé d’Affaires ad interim died on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Military Hospital in Bissau following a brief illness.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reached out to Momodu's family and colleagues to commiserate with them on her demise. She was described as a hardworking diplomat that negotiated several agreements for Nigeria.


“Her passing is a profound loss not just to the Ministry, but to the entire diplomatic community,” the Ministry stated. “She served the nation with distinction, and her absence will be deeply felt.”


Mrs. Momodu joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2010 as part of the 20th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy.
