AS  RRS OPERATIVES ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER/CULTIST AND RECOVERY OF ENGLISH BERETTA PISTOL DURING STOP AND SEARCH

ARREST OF AN EX-CONVICT/RECOVERY OF A STOLEN MOTORCYCLE


The Delta State Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has recorded another success in the fight against crime and criminality. The Policing strategy of CP Olufemi is an intelligence-driven one who promotes police that promotes proactive and not reactive policing. All officers, DPOs, and heads of formations have been mandated to key into this policing strategy and ensure that their Areas of responsibility are adequately Policed.


1. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER AND RECOVERY OF BERETTA DURING STOP AND SEARCH: On 16/8/2025  at about 0511hrs, Operatives of Rapid Response Squad of Delta State Command, while on Stop and Search along DBS Road, Asaba, stopped one Bassey Udoh, age 39years  (m) of Custom Market, Asaba, carrying a cross bag. Suspect, on sighting the Police, became uncomfortable, and this prompted the Police men to search him on the spot. Upon the search of the suspect, an English Beretta pistol was recovered.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is part of a syndicate that usually breaks into people's homes and cart away their properties, and he bought the gun for the sum of thirty thousand naira (#30,000).  Suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.


2. ARREST OF AN EX-CONVICT/ROBBERY SUSPECTS AND THE RECOVERY OF STOLEN PROPERTIES: On  11/8/2025  at about 1530hrs, Patrol Team of  Eagle-Net Special Squad Asaba, while on visibility patrol, received a distressed call on a missing motorcycle. In a combined effort with some members of Nigeria Hunters Security Services (NFSS), they arrested one Precious Okoro ‘m’, age 27 years of ULO Street, Asaba, Buhari Deyegu ‘m’, age 18 years of Ibusa road, Asaba and the missing motorcycle was recovered. The said suspect is an ex-convict who was released from Ogwashi-uku correctional facility 6th of August 2025 after completing his jail term of two years for a similar offence of stealing a motorcycle. The suspect went back to steal another motorcycle just five days after returning from prison. Investigation was extended to the suspect's residence, where a search warrant was executed, and one Tiger Generator, one big fireman generator one iron measuring scale were recovered. Suspect is in custody.
