HOSPITAL IN THAILAND FINED $37K AFTER PATIENTS RECORDS WERE USED TO SELL STREET FOODS

A private hospital in Thailand has been fined 1.21 million baht (US$37,000) after more than 1,000 medical records of patients were found being used to sell street food to vendors.

A social media influencer bought the street food called khanom Tokyo only to find it wrapped in a patient's confidential medical record. He blew open the lid and the matter attracted 33,000 reactions and 1,700 comments.

The authorities ultimately fined the unnamed hospital located in Ubon Ratchathani province in northeastern Thailand for violating data laws. One showed clearly that it was that of a man infected with the hepatitis B virus.
