 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. 5 arrested in investigation of Robert De Niro’s grandson Leandro’s overdose death

Two years after the death of Robert De Niro’s 19-year-old grandson, Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez, authorities have arrested five more individuals in connection with the case, law enforcement officials confirmed.

Leandro was found dead on July 2, 2023, from an apparent accidental drug overdose. The suspects, all men, are facing charges of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in death. A sixth person, Sofia H. Marks, had been arrested shortly after the incident for allegedly selling drugs to Leandro.

DEA New York Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino said the arrests are intended to provide some closure for grieving families and highlight the dangers of social media platforms being used to distribute fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills. “Whether you deal on the screens or in our streets, the DEA and our law enforcement partners remain committed to targeting those responsible. This is a fight to save lives,” he stated.

Leandro’s mother, Drena De Niro, expressed her grief publicly after her son’s passing, describing him as her “joy, my heart, and all that was ever pure and real” in her life. Leandro had appeared in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, playing the son of Bradley Cooper’s character’s friend, as well as in Cabaret Maxime. He was 19 years old.
