Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Governor Alex Otti Warns Against Election Manipulation, Denies Defection Rumours


Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has dismissed rumours suggesting he plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking during a media chat in Abia State yesterday, the governor stated firmly that he remains committed to his current political platform and to serving the people of Abia faithfully.


Otti also issued a strong warning to individuals allegedly plotting to manipulate the 2027 governorship election results, saying: 

“Those planning to write the Abia State governorship election results in 2027 should first write their own will, because this is our state and we cannot be intimidated.”

He emphasized that Abia belongs to its people and that any attempt to subvert the democratic will of the electorate will be met with firm resistance.


The governor reiterated his administration’s focus on good governance, transparency, and development, assuring citizens that no amount of political pressure or intimidation would derail his vision for the state.
