 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  LAGOS TO HOST Y2025 INAUGURAL AFRICA COLLOQUIUM AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING


The Lagos State Government is set to host the Inaugural Africa Colloquium Against Human Trafficking, themed “A United Front Against Ritual Abuse and Sacrifice.”


In a statement signed by the Honorable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, the landmark event will convene delegates from Pepperdine University, Malibu, California, Policymakers, Legal Advocates, and Experts across Africa to strengthen the fight against Human Trafficking and Ritual Abuse.


The Conference will be held at Radisson Blu Hotel, GRA Ikeja from Thursday 23rd to Friday 24th, October 2025.


The Statement also adds that the Y2025 colloquium represents pivotal steps in forging partnerships and driving sustainable strategies to combat human trafficking and Ritual Abuse, protect victims and ensure justice for survivors.
