 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  ONE OF THE FACES BEHIND DR. CHIKE AKUNYILI'S DEATH!


One of the suspected killers of Dr. Chike Akunyili has been apprehended by security operatives in Anambra State. 

Recall that Dr. Chike Akunyili, was shot dead on 28th September 2021, by gunmen at Nkpor, Idemili North, Anambra state on his way back from an event to honour his late wife, Dr. Dora Akunyili at Sharon Hall, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, organized by the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA).


In a now circulating video, the arrested susp€ct confessed that they engaged in a gμn battle with Dr. Akunyili's escorts and killed two of them on that day.


Investigations are currently ongoing as efforts are bring made to bring all those involved to justice..
