 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.   25-Year-Old Man Who Killed His Mother Shot by Neighbour


The community of Mosiane View in the North West province has been left in shock after a 25-year-old man brutally killed his 48-year-old mother on Saturday.


A disturbing video circulating on social media shows the young man attacking his mother with a shovel in a gruesome and senseless act of violence.


According to North West police spokesperson, Colonel Sam Tselenyane, the incident took a tragic turn when a neighbour, who tried to intervene, allegedly shot and killed the son in an attempt to stop the attack.


The motive behind the incident remains unclear, but authorities suspect that drug abuse may have influenced the young man’s violent behaviour.


Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
