 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  RIVERS STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE:


Significant Breakthrough in Armed Robbery/Car Snatch , Suspect Arrested.


The Rivers State Police Command has made another remarkable achievement in a swift operation and investigation into the viral video circulating on the social media space, depicting an armed robbery incident at Choba area of Port Harcourt on October 15, 2025. The incident which occurred at about 1500hrs, involved the snatching of a Toyota Avalon car at gunpoint.


Through intelligence-led Policing and technical support, Operatives of the Command has successfully apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Iruo Young M. 'm' aged 42 years, at his hideout in Ikoku, Port Harcourt. 


During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime, providing detailed information about his involvement in the robbery incident.


The suspect is currently in Police custody, and an in-depth investigation has been launched to apprehend the other fleeing suspects, recover the stolen vehicle, and retrieve the firearms used in the commission of the crime.


The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, has commended the operatives involved in the operation for their diligence and swift response, which led to the suspect's arrest. He has also expressed gratitude to the public for their support and cooperation in sharing credible information that facilitated the arrest. The Commissioner has warned that the State will not provide a hiding place for criminals, emphasizing the Command's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the State.
