How Abuja-Bound Train Broke Down Shortly After Leaving Kaduna

Passengers traveling from Kaduna to Abuja were stranded on Thursday after their train broke down shortly after departing the station.

The train left Kaduna a few minutes past 2 p.m., but about an hour into the journey, it developed a fault and was forced to return.

Eyewitnesses reported that the train crew initially could not explain the problem, but the train suddenly began reversing back to Kaduna midway through the trip.

A staff member of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) in Kaduna, who requested anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying the train had to return for repairs.

“The train departed for the 2 p.m. schedule but experienced technical issues and came back to Kaduna. Many passengers are still waiting at the station, hoping it will be fixed soon, while others have gone home,” the NRC staff told Leadership.
