Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will secure over 75 per cent of the votes in the Northern region in 2027 with effective mobilisation by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lawan, who was the President of the ninth Senate made the prediction on Wednesday.
He spoke after he was appointed as the National Patron of Tinubu House-to-House Network at his office in the National Assembly
The delegation, according to a statement by Lawan’s media aide, Mr. Ezrel Tabiowo, was led by the organisation’s national chairman, Comrade Yahaya Muhammad.
Lawan, who commended the group for his appointment, noted that the group’s door-to-door strategy was key to ensuring deeper political education and support for the Tinubu administration.
Lawan said, “I feel very delighted that you have found me worthy of appointment as a Patron of this group. My hope is that you continue to expand and deepen your activities across the country, particularly in the northern part of Nigeria,”
The former Senate President also endorsed Tinubu’s leadership, insisting that the administration has stabilised the economy and is steering it “in the right direction”.
According to him, despite the security setbacks recorded in recent months, the government had shown a firm commitment to equipping the armed forces and strengthening national defence.
The Yobe Senator said he was convinced that Tinubu’s continuity was in Nigeria’s best interest.
He said, “In the 2023 general election, the north gave about 63 per cent of the votes that brought President Tinubu to office. In 2027, we should give him more than 75 per cent to return him.
“The president is ensuring that every part of the country gets a fair share. We are better sticking with this president than trying somebody new who may not achieve half of what we have already seen.”
