Resident Doctors Suspend Planned Strike The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) has suspended its planned nationwide strike, earlier scheduled to commence today Monday 12th of January 2026, Following fresh engagements with the Federal Government, The North-Central caucus of the association announced the suspension after a series of consultations with government representatives, saying the decision was taken in the interest of patients while discussions continue. The caucus leader, Dr Fanen Dogoh, however, said the suspension does not mean the issues that prompted the strike threat have been resolved. The resident doctors had planned to embark on industrial action over the continued failure of the government to honour a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reached with the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).  Anambra ADC Governorship candidate, Nwosu Condemns Anambra Fatal Shooting, Commiserates With Victims’ Family and calls on Soludo to study his security blueprint and adopt the tech-based alternative he Proposed.

The Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Nov. 8  Governorship Election in Anambra, John Nwosu, has expressed grief over Sunday’s gun attack in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area.

Mr Nwosu’s reaction to the attack, which resulted in the death of four residents, is contained in a statement issued in Awka and made available to newsmen on Monday.

He said he received the news of the violent attack with shock and that it  inflicted deep pain on the Nwafia Community and Anambra in general.

He described the attack as “senseless and a needless attempt to undermine the peace of our state”.

Mr Nwosu said that the security situation in Anambra was becoming worrisome and called on Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to rejig the current security architecture in the state.

According to him, the security framework has been overstretched and no longer effective.

“I urge the people of Anambra to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies"

“Incidents, such as this, underscore the urgent need for a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s security architecture"

“Anambra must embrace modern, technology-driven security solutions, including real-time surveillance systems, advanced communication networks, and data-driven early warning tools to prevent threats and enable rapid response"

“My deepest condolences go to the families, who have suffered loss in this devastating incident"

“I stand with you in this moment of grief and reaffirm my commitment to supporting every effort aimed at protecting lives and restoring peace across our state,” Nwosu said.

He called on Soludo to study his security blueprint and adopt the tech-based alternative he had consistently proposed for a safer and more secure Anambra.

He said the strategy included establishing a functional command and control centre, deploying drones, and installing AI-enabled facial recognition cameras across the state,” he said.
