 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. The National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mazi Ejimofor Opara has opined that the people who have championed the Biafra agitation after Ojukwu, have been unable to advance any progressive course that will positively transform the economic or social fortunes of Ndigbo of their generation, this generation and even generation to come.


According to Ejimofor, what Alaigbo has experienced under the leadership of these men and their followers is just alter destruction. The APGA publicity Secretary maintained that the issue of marginalization which is often used as a tool by people who agitate for Biafra, is a social fact that exist in every society. “Marginalization is a social fact, it exist even in the most egalitarian society, just like cr!me, it is commensal  to human nature, there is no place you will go and there wouldn’t be unequal distribution of opportunities or even life itself “


Ejimofor aserted that in the course of establishing and finding a meaning to Biafra, the Igbos have lost alot, including humans and resources, hence he sees Biafra as a problem and unending struggle .
