 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  BENUE POLICE REPELS ARMED ATTACK AT AWANSE, RESCUES ABDUCTED WOMAN 


The Benue State Police Command has repelled an attack by suspected armed herdsmen at Awanse community in Kwande Local Government Area and rescued an abducted woman.


Police Public Relations Officer of the Command DSP EDET UDEME stated that the suspected armed herdsmen invaded Awanse Community firing sporadically, but police teams swiftly engaged the assailants and forced them to flee the area.


The abducted woman was rescued unhurt and no life was lost during the incident at Awanse as peace has been restored in the area.

Meanwhile, the Command has provided an update on the incident at Abende community, which occurred few days ago . 


The statement says during sustained search and combing operations in the area, five (5) additional dead bodies were recovered, bringing the total number of fatalities in Abende community to ten (10).


The general security situation in the affected areas is presently calm, as intensive patrols, surveillance, and monitoring continue.


The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Police Command, Ifeanyi Emenari,  assures the good people of the state of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and reiterates that all necessary operational measures are being sustained to prevent further attacks and bring perpetrators to justice.
