 ANAMBRA SHMB WARNS HEALTH INFORMATION OFFICERS OVER LATE REPORTS, REITERATES 7TH-DAY DEADLINE By Ebele Egoh The Anambra State Hospital Management Board (SHMB) has urged Health Information Management Officers to ensure accurate medical records, timely data submission and strict protection of patients’ confidential information to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state. The Director of Medical Support Services of the Board, Mrs Nneka Uzor, gave the call during a meeting and training session for health information personnel held on Oct. 9 at the SHMB conference hall. Mrs Uzor stressed that maintaining complete medical records and safeguarding patients’ information are essential professional responsibilities, cautioning  the officers against disclosing sensitive health information to unauthorised persons and urged them to uphold the highest standards of confidentiality.  Catholic Priest, Others Abducted In Kaduna Community Attack


A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, has been abducted alongside ten other persons following a violent attack on Karku community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.


The incident occurred in the early hours of February 7, 2026, at about 3:20 a.m. (WAT), at the priest’s residence. Rev. Fr. Asuwaye is the parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Karku, under the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.


According to a statement issued by the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, PhD, the attackers were described by residents as a group of terrorists who invaded the community in a coordinated operation.


The attack reportedly resulted in the death of three individuals, identified as Mr. Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr. Maitala Kaura, and Alhaji Kusari, while others were taken away by the assailants.


The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called on priests, Christian faithful, and people of goodwill to pray for the safe and speedy release of Rev. Fr. Asuwaye and the other abducted victims. 


The diocese also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives during the attack.


The diocese further entrusted the victims to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while urging continued solidarity and prayers amid the worsening security situation in parts of Kaduna State.
