 Senator Sunday Karimi has raised concerns over the growing incidence of kidnapping and banditry in Kogi State, describing abductions as a daily occurrence in the state. Karimi made the remarks on Wednesday during plenary while contributing to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso. The lawmaker said kidnapping and banditry have become major security challenges threatening the stability of the country, stressing that responsibility for addressing the menace should not rest solely on the Federal Government. According to him, bandits invaded Ayedun Bunu, a community in Kogi West Senatorial District, in the early hours of Monday and abducted 28 residents.  BENUE STATE POLICE RECOVERS SIX BODIES AFTER ATTACK ON FARMERS IN APA


Benue State Police Command says it has recovered six bodies after the attacks on cashew farmers by suspected armed herders on Wednesday at Asaba, Ojantele, and Okpette communities, in Apa Local Government Area of the state.


A Statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Edet Udeme, explained that the farmers were reportedly working on their farms when the assailants launched the attack.

Joint security teams comprising operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, and local youths from the affected communities immediately mobilized into the forest to carry out search and rescue operations

and recovered six (6) bodies. 


It adds, efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of residents in the affected communities.


The Commissioner of Police Benue State Command CP Ifeanyi Emenari assured the public that reinforcements have been sent to facilitate a more thorough and coordinated operation in the affected forests with the aim of tracking down those responsible for the attack.

He urged members of the public to remain calm and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that may assist ongoing operations.
