Al-Mustapha Dismisses Ex-DSS Operative’s Claims on Abacha’s Death Former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), has dismissed claims made by former Department of State Services operative, Dennis Amachree, regarding the circumstances surrounding the late military ruler’s death. Al-Mustapha described the account as false and urged Nigerians to disregard it. He spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference held at Arewa House in Kaduna on Saturday. His reaction followed renewed public attention on Amachree’s memoir, The Shadow Warrior, in which the retired DSS officer reportedly detailed his account of the events leading to Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998.  Works Ministry, Police Forge Alliance on Highway Protection


The Federal Ministry of Works and the Nigeria Police Force have reinforced collaboration on the protection of federal road infrastructure nationwide, as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji  Disu, paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Abuja 


The engagement, focused on improving security architecture around major highway construction corridors, including the Federal Government’s flagship legacy projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu


 Minister of Works, David Umahi, commended the police and other security agencies for their continued support in safeguarding critical national assets  despite prevailing security challenges in some parts of the country,

 

He described the administration’s flagship highway projects as long-term investment corridors designed to stimulate economic growth, enhance logistics, and strengthen national integration


The Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, described the visit as timely and strategic, noting that road infrastructure remains central to the administration’s economic transformation agenda.


The Inspector-General of Police , Olatunji Disu said the visit is to strengthen possible areas of collaboration, and to improve safety on the nation highways.
