 Court Jails Two for N14.8m Fraud in Maiduguri Justice B.T Zannah of the Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri, on Monday, July 13, 2026 convicted and sentenced two to three years imprisonment. The convicts are: Babagana Bukar and Hauwa Chabri.  The convicts were arraigned on Monday, July 13, 2026 by the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a separate one -count charge for the offence of criminal misappropriation to the tune of N14,800,000.00 (Fourteen  Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira). The charge against Bukar reads: "That you, Babagana Bukar sometimes in 2025 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly misappropriated and converted to your own use the aggregate sum of N8,800,000.00 (Eight Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira)  money belonging to Bunu Gambo Liman, being amount given to you through Babakura Umar and Bello Adamu for the supplies of 100 bags of IRS...

June 24, 2026, would have marked the 23rd birthday of the late Afro-Fuji sensation Afeez Adeshina, widely known as Destiny Boy. To commemorate the poignant milestone, his widow, Iremide, took to social media to share a deeply touching tribute, laying bare the profound grief of losing her partner so early in life.


Posting on her official Instagram page, Iremide shared a nostalgic throwback picture of herself alongside the late singer, set to one of his signature tracks. Her accompanying message was filled with raw emotion, capturing the daily struggles and heartbreak of navigating life and parenthood without him.


A Tragic and Sudden Loss


The Nigerian entertainment industry was plunged into mourning in January 2026 when Destiny Boy passed away at the young age of 22. His sudden death occurred after a brief, unexpected illness that initially left fans and colleagues in absolute shock. While his family initially dispelled rumors of foul play, subsequent medical reports revealed the presence of lethal levels of tramadol and methamphetamine in his system.


A Legacy of Love and Music


Despite the tragic circumstances surrounding his demise, Destiny Boy's musical footprint and the love he left behind continue to resonate. Only a month prior, during Children's Day celebrations, Iremide shared an equally emotional message dedicated to their young son, expressing how proud both she and his late father are of him.
