One thing I’ve noticed since I came to Nigeria… some of the people we call “rich” in Cameroon might actually be considered poor here in Nigeria. πŸ˜‚πŸ‡¨πŸ‡²πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ You will hear some Cameroonians say: Life in Cameroon is better because the gap between the rich and poor is not too much. An average man lives better than an average man in Nigeria  But I think the problem is that we sometimes measure wealth differently. πŸ˜‚ Those rich people in Cameroon are more like the average man in Nigeria  In Nigeria, you can see somebody with a house, two cars and serious money, yet the person will still say: Me? I’m just managing. πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ Meanwhile, that same person might be considered very rich in Cameroon. I’ve actually met guys in Nigeria who consider themselves average or even poor, and I’m looking at them like: Oga, if you enter Cameroon with this your ‘poor’ lifestyle, they will give you a title! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Some people we call rich back home would probably be considered ordinary here.  Kufana Youths Apprehend Suspected Transformer Vandals, Hand Over Suspects To Police

The Executive Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Council, Hon. Dauda Madaki, has commended the vigilance and bravery of youths in Kufana community following the arrest of suspected transformer vandals in the early hours of Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as Denis Reuben of Kurmin Ido, Haruna Ado of Kurmin Kwari, and another individual, were reportedly caught while allegedly attempting to steal transformer coils. Their arrest was carried out by a patrol team led by Mr. Samaila Akawu, alongside the community Youth Leader, Mr. Chris Lingo, and other vigilant youths.

Following the arrest, the suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Madaki praised the swift action of the community youths, describing their commitment to protecting public infrastructure as commendable and worthy of emulation.

According to the chairman, safeguarding critical public assets, particularly electricity infrastructure, is a collective responsibility that requires active participation from all members of the community.

He expressed concern over the recurring incidents of vandalism targeting electrical installations across Kajuru Local Government Area despite the substantial investments made by the council in providing, rehabilitating, and maintaining electricity facilities for residents.

Madaki urged communities across the local government to remain vigilant and continue collaborating with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their areas. He noted that acts of vandalism and theft of public infrastructure hinder community development and will not be tolerated.

The council chairman further stated that the arrest of the suspects should serve as a deterrent to individuals involved in the destruction and theft of electricity infrastructure, assuring residents that the council would continue to support community-driven security initiatives aimed at protecting public assets and promoting sustainable development throughout Kajuru Local Government Area.

The statement was issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, John Ezra Sojah, on June 16, 2026.
