 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST IDOWU AJANAKU ON HIS 60TH BIRTHDAY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated multiple award-winning journalist and political strategist, Idowu Ajanaku, on the occasion of his 60th birthday. 


According to a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu rejoiced with Ajanaku, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Ondo State, on attaining the milestone age, while commending his courage, vibrancy, and dedication to the journalism profession over several decades.


The President acknowledged Ajanaku's contributions to democracy and good governance in Nigeria, recalling his courageous role in the struggle against tyranny during the era of military rule.


President Tinubu also praised the loyalty and commitment of the accomplished writer and analyst in strengthening the progressive movement in the South-West. 


He noted that Ajanaku served diligently as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy in Lagos State before successfully leading the media campaign of former Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.


The President further commended Ajanaku for leveraging his vast experience and network in journalism to promote the achievements of both the Federal and State Governments, while effectively utilizing various media platforms to enhance public understanding of government policies and the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.


President Tinubu prayed for God's continued blessings, good health, and well-being for the devoted media professional as he marks his diamond jubilee.
