 TROOPS OF OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS, ARREST TERRORITS LOGISTICS SUPPLIERS WITH 10 MOTOR CYCLES Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have continued to sustain pressure on terrorists across the North West, recording significant operational successes on 19 and 20 July 2026 through the rescue of kidnapped victims, the disruption of a planned abduction, and the arrest of suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in separate operations conducted in Zamfara, Katsina and Kebbi States. On 20 July 2026, troops responded swiftly to a distress call from residents of Shiyan Abiyola in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where terrorists had attempted to abduct civilians from a residence. The prompt intervention of the troops forced the terrorists to abandon the operation and flee, leading to the successful rescue of several residents. SUSPECT APPREHENDED FOR ALLEGED SPREAD OF FALSE RUMOURS AND OBTAINING MONEY UNDER FALSE PRETENSE IN LANZAI


In a bid to stop the spread of false information,  misinformation and disinformation  across the State, Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Umar Abubakar, an 18-years-old male, resident of Lanzai Town, Darazo LGA, for allegedly spreading false rumours of an impending attack and obtaining money under false pretenses.


According to a report received at Darazo Division on 28/06/2026 at about 1510hrs from a traditional ruler in Lanzai, the suspect was alleged to have gone around Lanzai Town spreading rumours that herders would attack the town within three days.


Furthermore, the suspect was also alleged to have collected the sum of N4,000 from two households for prayers and sacrifices to allegedly avert the said attack.


During interrogation, the suspect admitted that the information was false. He further disclosed that one Hannatu (surname withheld), a 32-years-old female of the same address had told him about a dream she had that the community might be attacked. He stated that the claim was informed by trauma following the killing of three of her neighbours during an incident on 04/06/2026.


Subsequently, the suspect is currently in the custody of Darazo Division for preliminary investigation. The case will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi, for discreet investigation and prosecution.


Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has warned against the spread of false information capable of causing panic and breach of public peace. He urged residents to always verify information and report any suspicious activity to security agencies rather than taking laws into their own hands.


The CP further assured that the Area of Responsibility remains relatively calm and that security monitoring is ongoing to sustain peace in the area.
