 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 101-year-old World War II veteran celebrates birthday with second skydive, plans third jump at 102

   Jimmy Hernandez celebrated his 101st birthday by once again taking to the skies, marking the occasion with a tandem skydive in California.

The World War II veteran made his second jump at Skydance Skydiving in Davis, accompanied by his son, Mark Hernandez, and grandson, Santiago.

For Hernandez, jumping from an airplane has become something of a birthday tradition. He completed his first skydive when he turned 100 and decided to return to the skies for his 101st birthday.

“Once you're flying, you are in the hands of the Lord,” Hernandez said.

His son admitted he was nervous about making his own first skydive, but said his father showed little hesitation.

“You can't tell him anything,” Mark said. “He's going to do it, no matter what.”

After landing safely, Hernandez offered his thoughts on the secret to a long life, emphasizing kindness and affection.

“I would say to respect, to love, to hug, and to kiss,” he said. “Because without that, there's a lot of hate going on.”

Hernandez said he hopes to make another jump when he turns 102, although he left the final decision in God’s hands.

“If the Lord says, only,” he said.
