The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won all 21 local government chairmanship seats and all 346 councillorship positions in the local government election held in Anambra State.

The Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Mrs. Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe, announced the results on Sunday at the Commission’s headquarters in Awka.

According to Osakwe, all APGA candidates were duly declared winners as councilors and executive chairmen-elect.

The elections were conducted across 362 electoral wards in the state’s 21 local government areas. ANSIEC described the process as peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible, in accordance with state electoral laws and guidelines.

Mrs. Osakwe commended the people of Anambra for their confidence in the Commission and expressed appreciation to security agencies and the media for their support before, during, and after the election.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected chairmen, Hon. Emmanuel Igwebuike of Ayamelum LGA commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, ANSIEC, security agencies, and the media for ensuring a conducive environment for the exercise.

He pledged the commitment of the new council leadership to support the governor’s vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous state by 2070.
