Blaming opposition for hunger is ‘delusion’, Atiku tells Tinubu Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of blaming the opposition for the country’s economic hardship. He said the President was trying to evade responsibility for his administration’s policies. Tinubu had earlier on Saturday blamed his political opponents for hunger and poverty in the country while speaking at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna. “I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said. Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, said Nigerians were entitled to demand answers from the APC-led government over rising living costs, poverty, insecurity and questions surrounding public expenditure.  PRESIDENT NAOWA EXTENDS HOPE, SUPPORT TO TEACHERS, WIDOWS OF FALLEN HEROES AND MILITARY SPOUSES IN KADUNA

The President, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Dr Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu has extended welfare, humanitarian and morale-boosting interventions to members of the military community in Kaduna State. During her engagements in the state last week, Dr Shaibu toured various NAOWA facilities, including NAOWA schools and the NAOWA Skills Acquisition Centre, where she interacted with teachers and staff and commended them for their dedication, commitment and contributions to the education, development and empowerment of military families.

In recognition of their efforts and sacrifices, the President NAOWA appreciated the teachers with cash rewards and relief materials. The gesture reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to recognising and supporting those who contribute to building a stronger and more empowered military family. Dr Shaibu also held a special engagement with widows of fallen heroes, where she expressed solidarity with the families and reaffirmed NAOWA’s commitment to their welfare and wellbeing. She presented cash gifts and humanitarian assistance to the widows, while personally supervising a wide-ranging outreach aimed at providing relief, encouragement and practical support to the affected families.

In a further demonstration of her commitment to strengthening the military family, the President NAOWA commended members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) for their courage, resilience and unwavering support in maintaining a stable home front while their spouses carry out their constitutional responsibilities. As a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, Dr Shaibu also presented gifts to NASWA members, acknowledging their sacrifices and the important role they play in sustaining the morale, welfare and wellbeing of military families.

The engagements are a reflection of the President NAOWA’s vision “To have a United and Innovative NAOWA that would Empower Military Families through Self-Reliance and Sustainable Livelihoods.” The interventions demonstrate how the vision is being translated into practical actions through compassion, welfare support, education, skills development, appreciation and initiatives that promote self-reliance among military families. By reaching out to teachers, widows of fallen heroes and military spouses, Dr Shaibu continues to place people at the heart of her administration, fostering unity while creating opportunities for military families to become more resilient, empowered and self-reliant.

The Kaduna engagements therefore further underscore the commitment of the President NAOWA to building a united and innovative Association that not only responds to the immediate needs of military families but also provides sustainable opportunities that improve their livelihoods and strengthen the military community.
