     The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen TY Buratai had Special Easter luncheon with troops of Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE (TC OPLD) on Monday the 13th of April 2020, at the Army Special Super Camp Ngamdu in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.      JOINT STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (NMA), THE PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF NIGERIA (PSN) AND THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN NURSES AND MIDWIVES (NANNM) ON THE CONTAINMENT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC MENACE IN NIGERIA OBSERVATIONS: The novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been spreading at a rapid rate across the world, which made World health organization (WHO) to declare it a pandemic. Today the number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has risen to 323 in 20 states and the FCT with 85 discharges and 10 deaths as at April 13, 2020 as announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). On 31 December 2019, WHO was informed of a cluster of cases of pneumonia of unknown cause detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. Chinese authorities identified the SARS-CoV-2 as the causative virus on 7 January 2020, and the disease was named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by WHO on 11 February 2020. As part of WHO’s response to the outbreak, a Research and Development (R&D) Blueprint has been activated to accelerate the development of diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics for this novel coronavirus.Under WHO’s coordination, a group of experts with diverse backgrounds is working towards the development of vaccines against COVID-19.The group makes a call to everyone to follow recommendations to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus and protect the health of individuals.       Dear citizens, As we commemorate the sacrifice of Love this Easter, I bring to you more awesome news from our isolation facilities. Today, five more patients; four females, and one male have been discharged to reunite with their families and the society. The patients were discharged having recovered fully and tested negative twice consecutively to COVID19. With the newly discharged patients, we now have a total of 55 people that have been successfully managed for COVID19 at our isolation facilities and discharged to the community. This news, especially on this auspicious day, gives me joy and happiness and I am sure it does to you too. While we look forward to more great news from our effort to contain the pandemic, let's all continue to show love and sacrifice for the course of humanity.      Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong on Sunday 12th April 2020 received Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila who was in Jos to condole with the family of his wife over the loss of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Mildred Bisalla who died in Jos at the age of 83. Governor Lalong who received the Speaker at the Government House Rayfield Jos, described the death of Mrs. Mildred Bisalla as a great loss to the Plateau State and Nigeria as she was an epitome of humility, service and godliness. The Governor and Speaker later visited the residence of the deceased in Jos where they were received by her brother, Archbishop Benjamin Kwashi, Anglican Bishop of Jos Diocese. Governor Lalong consoled the family and urged them to accept the loss as part of life, taking joy in the fact that the deceased lived a life of love and served her generation in many ways, leaving behind worthy legacies.       The Anambra State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the Command in compliance with the directives of the Anambra State Government in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 has commenced total enforcement of lockdown order in the State with immediate effect. In view of this,the public are kindly requested to stay at home. No movement, no local transportation. The index case has been in the State since march 28th and has socialized extensively. This extreme restriction became necessary in order to identify and isolate primary and secondary contacts as well as ensure no further spread as the contact tracing is ongoing. The public is to note that the Police and all security Agencies in the State are geared to enforce this order to the letter in observance of overriding public health interest.
