 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. It said compensatory plots had been allocated to the family and other families in Onitsha before the current administration. LASG ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS FOR LRMT RED LINE PROJECT: OYINGBO -AGBADO In line with the ongoing construction of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, Red Line (Oyingbo to Agbado), the Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversion at the following locations commencing from Wednesday, 26th July, 2023. 1. Muritala Mohammed Way, Yaba, Apapa Road, Oyingbo and Ojuelegba Road for a duration of 10 Weeks; 2. Kayode and Ogunmokun Streets, in Mushin area for a duration of 22 weeks The following alternative routes will be available for Motorists during the construction period; a. Motorists on Muritala Mohammed Way will be diverted from Abeokuta Street into Borno Way to link Coasts Street and access Muritala Mohammed Way or alternately use Cemetery Street to continue their journeys.  Suspected ritualists kill, dismember 32-year-old lady on her birthday 25th Jul 2023 Suspected ritualists have reportedly killed and dismembered the body of a 32-year-old woman, identified as Dorcas Shangev, on her birthday in the Adem village, near the Welfare Quarters area of Makurdi, the Benue State capital. It was gathered that the deceased went missing about a week ago until her dismembered body was found dumped at Adem village, after her body parts were removed by her murderers. A family source in Makurdi, who relayed the events leading to her disappearance and death, said the incident was already generating controversy as her family had started questioning the manner her remains were recovered and buried by the authorities. GUNMAN ARRESTED AT A POPULAR HOTEL IN AWKA IDENTIFIED BY RAPE VICTIM; TWO MORE PISTOLS RECOVERED FROM HIM Following publication of picture of the gunman arrested at a popular hotel in Awka two days ago by Anambra State Police Command, a 24-year-old graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has come forward to allege that the suspect robbed and raped her at gunpoint at another hotel in Awka on 11th July, 2023. She stated that the suspect was among the criminals that abducted her when she boarded a tricycle along Ifite to Aroma Junction on 10/7/2023, took her to a hotel within the area, dispossess her of her personal belongings and raped her before she was allowed to go. The victim who looked traumatised identified her phone among the phones recovered from the suspect. FG increases Unity schools’ fee from N45,000 to N100,000 In a recent development, the Federal Ministry of Education has issued a directive to increase the school fees for new students enrolling in Federal Government Colleges, commonly known as Federal Unity Colleges, to ₦100,000. The directive, contained in a circular with reference number ADF/120/DSSE/I, dated 25th May 2023, was addressed to all Principals of Federal Unity Colleges. According to the circular titled “Approved fees/ charges for Federal Unity Colleges (1st Term) for new students,” signed by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, the Director of Senior Secondary Education, the new students will now be required to pay ₦100,000 instead of the previous fee of N45,000. The increased fees will encompass various aspects and activities of the school, including tuition and boarding fees, uniforms, textbooks, deposits, exercise books, prospectus, caution fees, ID cards, stationery, clubs and societies, sports, extra lessons, insurance, and more....

You will recall Magic FM reported that the State Govt plans on biometric verification exercise for Traditional Rulers in the state. However, in a statement released this morning by Gov Otti's Special Adviser on Media and publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the State Government tagged the said report as fake as well as revealing that what it meant was manual enumeration.
