 [ASSEN SAPS MEMBERS ASSIST WOMAN IN GIVING BIRTH AT POLICE STATION] Assen SAPS members assisted a female suspect who went into labour at the police station on Thursday, 8 October 2026, helping her deliver a healthy baby girl before she and the newborn were taken to a medical facility. According to reports, members were on duty at Assen SAPS under the command of Sergeant Chidi, when they received a telephone call regarding the arrest of a female suspect at Msholozi informal settlement in Kameeldrift. Constable Olivier and Constable Mokhutshoane responded to the call and arrested the suspect, who was reportedly in good health and had no visible injuries at the time of the arrest. She was subsequently taken to Assen SAPS. While at the police station, the suspect began experiencing labour pains and an ambulance was immediatly summond.  Soludo Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to Owners of Illegal Structures in Onitsha South Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to owners of illegal structures in Onitsha South Local Government Area to present valid building approvals and land ownership documents. The directive targets structures erected without authorization on government-owned land, including buildings constructed along waterways. According to the state government, such developments obstruct natural drainage channels, contributing to recurrent flooding and severe environmental degradation in the area. Governor Soludo emphasized that the exercise is part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to enforce urban planning regulations, protect the environment, and ensure public safety.  Anambra State Strengthens Healthcare Infrastructure with ₦60,587,500,000 Budget Implementation for 2026 Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, has presented the Ministry of Health’s approved 2026 budget of ₦60,587,500,000, emphasizing the State Government’s commitment to expanding essential human resources for health and improving healthcare delivery across some local Government Areas. According to the Commissioner, the Ministry recorded a 45% budget performance this year 2025.  Despite this, significant progress was made this year through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health and the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.  ‎I am constrained to align with those who opine that Nnamdi Kanu took Ala Igbo twenty years backward.  ‎ ‎Unfortunately, it appears many Ndi Igbo do not share this view. Rather, they see Nnamdi Kanu more like a hero, a saviour and a prophet to Ndi Igbo.  ‎ ‎It is instructive to note that the Christian theology which many modern Ndi Igbo subscribe to submitted, a prophet has no honour in his homeland.  ‎ ‎The reason for this rejection by the people towards their own prophet is clear. A prophet tells his people uncomfortable truth difficult to swallow. It is the stinging nature of this uncomfortable truth that the pushes the people to dislike and dishonour the prophet.  ‎ ‎Please make no mistakes, the present well deserved incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu should not by any stretch of sensible imagination be translated as a prophet being dishonored. Speaking on this development yesterday, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Kimiebi Ebienfa, said that the federal government was actively engaging the authorities of the country involved to resolve the matter diplomatically.  Imo LG chairman, Alaribe, meets with monarchs over security matters..     Iheukwumere Alaribe, chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area (LGA), Imo State, has convened a high-level security meeting with a view to collaborate with all the traditional rulers to strengthen security.  This is as he announced a new reporting security measure for vigilantes, pledging to ensure that all intra-community conflicts would be resolved.
