TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. Six suspects were arrested by special task force on anti pipeline vandalism unit,including a 65 year old man salami amodu who thought the petrol was holy water.The other people arrested were bruce ekonen,joseph ofoeyeno,francis ode and kola ifatoye with about 100 gallons of PMS alleged to have been vandalized from Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ,NNPC pipe line at idimagboro in sagamu area of ogun state.The 65 year old baba claimed he was on his way back home when one alfa stopped him,promised to pay him N5,000 per trip if he can help him carry 10 gallons of liquid.he thought it was holy water so he didnt bother to ask since it 's a good business.it was while he was carrying the gallons that he percieved the odour of fuel.he was very angry at the alfa and wanted to off load the vehicle but realize that they were almost close to their destination thats when he decided to continue.all the suspects will be arraigned in court at the end of all investigations.
