 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. A WOMAN SOLD HER GRAND DAUGHTER FOR N253,000.

 Illustration: a baby          Miss Ndidi Nkweagu,accused her mother of selling her baby daughter to child trafficker,for N253,000.the trafficker have been arrested in the neighbouring Ebonyi state,after she sold the baby at a bigger price to another baby business tycoon,based in Abuja.Ndidi claimed when she got back home and asked her mother about the where about of her daughter,her mother could not give her any reasonable explanation.she discovered her mother bought so many new things which she never had before.she said her mother was never happy with  her when she discovered she was pregnant.i had to call the police,and my mother is now in police detention in Cross River state.After interrogation the police discovered that my mum is the person that sold my daughter to child traffickers.the suspects had confessed to the crime,adding that they also divulged information on some of their accomplice.the dealer is Blessing Nwilo,a teacher in Sharon Secondary School,Abakaliki,but she hails from Enugu,while the buyer is Ngboro Chikezie from Ohaukwu Local government Area of Ebonyi state,she claims to be an Area offer with the ministry of Education Ebonyi state.
