  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms.  Illustration: a baby          Miss Ndidi Nkweagu,accused her mother of selling her baby daughter to child trafficker,for N253,000.the trafficker have been arrested in the neighbouring Ebonyi state,after she sold the baby at a bigger price to another baby business tycoon,based in Abuja.Ndidi claimed when she got back home and asked her mother about the where about of her daughter,her mother could not give her any reasonable explanation.she discovered her mother bought so many new things which she never had before.she said her mother was never happy with  her when she discovered she was pregnant.i had to call the police,and my mother is now in police detention in Cross River state.After interrogation the police discovered that my mum is the person that sold my daughter to child traffickers.the suspects had confessed to the crime,adding that they also divulged information on some of their accomplice.the dealer is Blessing Nwilo,a teacher in Sharon Secondary School,Abakaliki,but she hails from Enugu,while the buyer is Ngboro Chikezie from Ohaukwu Local government Area of Ebonyi state,she claims to be an Area offer with the ministry of Education Ebonyi state.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
