Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration. The police in River State for the second day,barred the law makers of the Rivers State House of Assembly from entering the Assembly complex in Port H arcourt.A police officer told the law makers outside the Assembly complex that there are two factions in the House and that it will not allow any of the two groups to gain entrance untill it gets a directive from the inspector General of police,Mohammed Abubakar.when plastic chairs were brought for the lawmakers to sit outside the Assembly complex,the police refused to allow the law makers sit on the chairs.this infuriated the lawmakers who then proceeded to sit on the floor of the road ''moscow road'',leading into the Assembly.while sitting on the road,the Legislators sang solidarity and praise and worship songs to God.
