 AGATU YOUTHS BLOCK OWETO-OTUKPO ROAD, DEMAND URGENT GOVERNMENT ACTION ON KILLINGS IN BENUE  Hundreds of youths from Agatu Local Government Area in Benue State blocked the Oweto–Otukpo highway on Saturday, protesting persistent attacks on residents by suspected armed herders. The demonstration, organized by the Agatu West Peace and Unity Forum, highlighted growing insecurity in the area and demanded urgent intervention from both the Federal and State governments. The protest began Friday and continued into Saturday, causing traffic disruptions along the Oweto Bridge. Agatu, predominantly an Idoma community, relies on farming and fishing, but decades of militia attacks have left many villages deserted. Over 15 communities have reportedly been overrun since 2013, with hundreds of residents killed or displaced. •Four staff of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, LCDA, arrested for allegedly extorting money from motorists under the guise that they are traffic officers         The four staff's arrested are Balogun Fatai,Ayo Fapohunda,Oyetunji Olabisi and Rahimi Kamilu of Ikosi,Isheri Local Council Development Area,LCDA,have been arrested for allegedly extorting money from motorist under the guise that they are traffic officers.In two days of their operation,the four suspects had extorted about N180,000 by finning motorist they arrested illegally.They met their water loo when they attempted to extort money from a motorist at Lagos toll gate.The motorist reported the matter at the task force office which led to the arrest of the suspected culprits.According to Tony Nanewodo,owner of mercedes Benz C-class 2013 model,was arrested at the toll gate for stopping to ease himself,but lamented that he was issued ticked for picking up a passenger on the road,an act he never committed.One of the suspect,Fatai,said they remit the money collected to the purse of the council and that the council employed the services of a consultant to help in collecting the money from motorists.
