 Ogun Confirms Lassa Fever Outbreak as NYSC Member Dies The Ogun State government has confirmed an outbreak of Lassa fever following the death of a 25-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Ijebu North Local Government Area. According to a statement by the Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, the female corps member had fallen ill in Ondo State before being brought to a secondary health facility in Ogun on March 18, 2025. She passed away the same day. Lassa fever, a viral hemorrhagic disease, presents symptoms such as high fever, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chest pain, and unexplained bleeding. Coker urged residents to seek medical attention if they experience these symptoms, particularly if a fever does not respond to malaria or antibiotic treatment within 48 hours.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
