 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. TANKO,A MUSLIM BURNT HIMSELF ALIVE FOR THE LOVE OF A CHRISTIAN GIRL BLESSING.

Illustration- an example in self immolation         Mansur Tanko,a 27 year old man.on friday burnt himself to death in Jalingo,capital of Taraba state,after a disagreement with his father,Tanko Mijinyawa,over marriage.Tanko set himself on fire because his family refused to approve his weddin g with a girl,Blessing a christian.Tanko introduced Blessing to his father as his proposed wife,but the father kicked against the union,describing it as a bad choice.His father tried to convince him to look for another girl but he refused,as he insisted that he could not survive without blessing.Tanko suddenly left his father and went to a corner in the compound,where he poured petrol on his body and set himself ablaze.People saw fire and ran towards the corner of the compound and found him burning.The father and other people tried to rescue Tanko from the fire but failed as the flame was much and they could not move near.Tankos father is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre,Jalingo,for injuries sustained while trying to rescue his son.
