 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. 10 NIGERIANS AND 2 BRITONS ARRESTED FOR OIL THEFT.

             They were arrested today friday on charges of trying to bribe a military officer to facilitate oil theft.Major General E.J Atewe,commander of the mixed military and police task force {JTF} for the oil producing Niger Delta Region,said two of the bunkerers,both Nigerian,had gone to an officer to request clearance to move the crude oil.They had openly admitted their plan was to hack into a pipeline and connect a hose that would siphon crude out of it into a waiting boat,and offered him $6,500 to provide a gun boay to protect them on ther way out.The suspects were immediately arrested for attempting to bribe the Brigade Commander for economic sabotage.General Atewe said ''A follow up operation had led to the arrest of two Britons and another eight Nigerians''.
