NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. The event took place on Sunday March 9,2014 at Atani Anambra state.The event was also inconjuction with the National Directorate of Employment {NDE}.RT.Hon.Emeka Ihediohathe Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives was present at the event as a special guest .The 150 Ogbaru youths graduated from the Skill Acquisition program which was organised by Fidelis Ogene Memorial Foundation and hundreds of gifts items were also given to the graduates.Not only the 150 youths that benefited from the program but over 350 men,women and physically challenged,also benefited from the empowerment program.I believe Hon Ogene is a shining example and others that have the means to help their community,they should do so.More pictures below.
