An Uncle of late gospel artist Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji aka Toluwanisings, has appealed to the government, Nigerians, religious leaders and traditional rulers to help investigate the circumstances surrounding his sudden demise.
The singer who was popular for his soul-lifting worship, suddenly slumped and died in Ibadan, Oyo state on October 14.
Speaking during an interview with Dunmininu, the Uncle said the family has agreed that he must not be buried unless the real cause of his death is ascertained. He mentioned that the late Singer was born a Muslim and bore the name Sodiq before he encountered Christ and dropped the name for a Christian name.
“We need the help of Nigeria because Sodiq’s death is hurting us. We need the help of important people, from the government down to religious leaders and traditionalists, to help us find out the true cause of his death. Please help us, we, the family of Olayeni. I am his father's brother.
Nobody should question if we have sent anyone to investigate. Yes, we are calling on everyone to help investigate because his death is painful to us.
For this reason, nobody should plan to bury Sodiq because we are all very hurt, and the entire family has agreed to put his burial on hold until investigation into his death is concluded” he said
He went further to say that the late singer must be at his house in Ibadan where his wife and kids presently reside.
This comes amidst reports that the widow of the singer and the father of the singer are at loggerheads over where he is to be buried. Reports claim that while the father insists he be buried in a building he was erecting, his wife insists he be buried in a cemetery.
