 Republic of Congo holds presidential election, internet disruption reported Internet connectivity across the Republic of Congo was disrupted on Sunday as voters cast ballots in a presidential election, global internet watchdog NetBlocks said. Network data indicated a nation-scale disruption to internet access, the watchdog said on X. A similar near-total nationwide internet blackout was recorded during the country’s March 2021 presidential election, lasting about three days, according to NetBlocks. Polls opened at 6 am (0500GMT) in the country’s presidential election and will remain open until 6 pm (1700GMT). More than 2.6 million registered voters aged 18 and above are eligible to cast their ballots. SEVEN PEOPLE,KILLED IN ABUJA NATIONAL STADIUM.

Photo            Seven people have been killed in a stamped at Abuja's National Stadium during a recruitment drive for the immigration service,on saturday.Officials said only one entrance to the 60,000 capacity stadium was open during the aptitude test for applicants to join the immigration service.Seven people were counted at the National Hospital,where the dead and injured were taken.Tayo Haastrup,spokeman of the hospital said,there were several injured in a critical but stable condition.Olisa Metua,the spoke man for the Peoples Democratic party {PDP}says ''We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the untimely death of the young citizens who  were at the exercise not only to secure jobs but to be allowed the opportunity to contribute towards the development of the nation''.                                                                                         Applicants struggle to submit copies of their acknowledgement forms to an immigration officer during a recruitment drive for the Nigeria Immigration Service at the National Stadium in Abuja March 15, 2014.
