Army sergeant’s wife deported to Honduras amid Trump administration’s immigration crackdown on military families The wife of an Army sergeant and mother of a 6-year-old was deported to Honduras Monday, as the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown increasingly affects spouses and parents of active-duty military personnel. Army Sgt. Hedar Leonel Turcios Juarez confirmed that his wife, Cristy Maryori Villafranca Trejo, had been deported. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Villafranca outside a Walmart in July while the couple’s young daughter was present, according to her husband. Villafranca had left Honduras in 2016 because of violence, he said. Turcios Juarez came to the United States from Honduras in 2014 for similar reasons. After attending high school in the U.S., he joined the Army and became a U.S. citizen in 2024 following a nine-month deployment to the Middle East.
