STATEHOUSE PRESS STATEMENT PRESIDENT TINUBU'S MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE AND HER FAMILY With a deep sense of grief, I condole with Ms Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, and the entire family on the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi. As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child. I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them. Ms Adichie is a literary icon who has brought joy and light to many homes globally, and I pray she and her family find strength in the Almighty in this trying hour. My prayers are with the family. 18 years old Godiya Isaiah was very lucky to escape from the hands of the armed men that pretended to be Nigerian soldiers.She said ''When we saw these gun men we thought they were soldiers.They told all of us to come and walk to the gates,we followed their instruction,but when the armed men started ransacking the school stores and set fire to the building,we were terrified being held at gun point into the vehicles realizing that we are being kidnapped.We were crying,i later jumped off the truck and ran away to hide in the bush.Other girls were packed into a bus and some pickups''.
