 Convicted war criminal Lubanga announces new rebel group in east Congo A convicted war criminal based in Uganda has announced a new rebel movement intent on toppling the government in eastern Congo's Ituri province, creating another potential security threat in the war-scarred region, Reuters reported. The formation of the Convention for the Popular Revolution (CPR) by Thomas Lubanga, an Ituri native, comes as Congo's army faces an unprecedented advance by Rwandan-backed M23 rebels elsewhere in eastern Congo. The International Criminal Court secured its first conviction against Lubanga in 2012 on charges of recruiting child soldiers and sentenced him to 14 years in prison. He was released in 2020 and President Felix Tshisekedi appointed him to a task force to bring peace to Ituri. But in 2022 he was taken hostage for two months by a rebel group, which he blames on the government, and is now based in Uganda. POLICE COMMAND IN ONDO REACTS TO FALSE PUBLICATION ABOUT A LATE POLICEMAN BY VANGAURD NEWS PAPER.

            The Nigerian police in Ondo state,has drawn the attention of the general public to the publication of the sunday Vanguard,page 8 of 20th July,2014,captioned  ''Police officer dies in sex romp''.The police command said the entire story is false,baseless,unfounded,ill-motivated and complete imagination of the writer.The police Command said it was an Inspector of police who reported sick by himself at the station at llutitin and conveyed i a patrol vehicle to hospital and not in a woman's house as alleged,but died on the way to hospital which could happen to anybody including the writer.It was an Inspector that died and not an Assistant Superintendent of police.No woman was arrested in connection with the dead of any police officer in llutitun.This shows that the writer did not conduct proper investigation but based his story on figment of his imagination.ASP.Wole .F.Ogodo,Police Public Relations Officer,Ondo state.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
