Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. Today thursday,Oscar Pristorius was found not guilty of the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.The Judge dismissed the most serious charges against him saying ''The state clearly has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder.Viewed in it's totality,the evidence failed to establish that the accused had the requisite intention to kill the deceased let alone with premeditation.Clearly he did not objectively foresee this as a possibility,that he would kill the person behind the door''.Oscar was charged with one count of murder and three fire arms charge over the killing of his girlfriend on Valentine day 2013.The judge also reviewed evidence by neighbours,who testified of hearing shots and screams saying ''Many had their facts wrong.The media had huge coverage of the case and that could have affected some of the witnesses.I am of the view the witnesses failed to separate what they knew personally or what they heard from other people or what they gathered from the media.The accused himself was evasive on the stand and his evidence showed a number of defences or apparent defences.The accused was a very poor witness''.More photos below.
