Three de-ad, four coaches affected as Warri-Itakpe train derails The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed the d3ath of three persons following the derailment of the Warri-Itakpe train in Agbor, Delta State. The Corporation added that four coaches left the rail track during the incident which occurred on Monday, June 8, 2026. The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, said in a statement that the emergency response team and other relevant authorities are currently managing the situation and providing necessary assistance. “The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed a serious train accident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridor at Agbor, Delta State,” the statement read. “Rescue and emergency response operations were immediately activated. Lagos state Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences Unit claimed they impounded the okada's {bike's} because they were plying certain routes in the state which they are banned from plying.Some okada's were arrested yesterday at Iju-Ishaga while today tuesday most of the bike riders abandoned their bikes and took to their heels to avoid being arrested and prosecuted.Task force Chairman Mr Bayo Sulaiman said ''Residents in Lagos have been complaining that okada riders were back in full force plying prohibited routes and obstructing traffic in the area.During a raid on Computer village Ikeja on monday evening,it was discovered that many of the traders were back on the streets hawking their wares once again.Lots of people believed that we have relaxed in enforcement but we did not.We will ensure that places like Oshodi and Obalende that have been trading and street hawking are well policed so that the traders and area boys {miscreants},do not come back to turn these places to nuisance''.
