Workers will rather work for free than accept N48,000 — NLC The Nigeria Labour Congress has warned that it would rather mobilise workers to remain at home with their families or offer free services than accept the paltry N48,000 new minimum wage being offered by the Federal Government when they meet on Tuesday. The Deputy President of the NLC Political Commission, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, disclosed this in an exclusive interview. On Wednesday, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress had walked away from the negotiation table after the FG offered to pay N48,000, a figure far below the N615,00 the unions demanded as the new national minimum wage. After the session, the labour leaders told newsmen at an emergency press conference that it was ‘an insult to the sensibilities of Nigerian workers.’ Did you know a tribe that digs up corpses, dresses them for celebration?0:00 / 1:01 But 24 hours after the revolt, the Chairman of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage, Alhaji Bukar Go

A MARRIAGE WAS DISSOLVED TODAY OVER A HUSBAND'S REFUSAL TO ALLOW HIS WIFE TO WORK.

25 year old Ester Onakomaya who resides at Dental Centre street in Ago Ipesha in Abeokuta, told an Abeokuta Customary court sitting in Ake that her husband Seun Onakomaya was a selfish and violent man.She said that her four year old marriage was blessed with only one issue,2 year old Damilola.Esther also accused her husband of shying away from his responsibilities as a man and also did not allow her to work.''My husband does not want me to work.He wants me to stay at home as a full time house wife.I am tired of the suffering. He does not take care of the family as promised.I see no point in remaining his wife.I am praying for a divorce now to enable me to move on with my life''.Ester appealed to the court to grant her custody of their only son.Her husband 35 year old Seun, accepted the plea of his wife to dissolve their marriage saying the dissolution would be a good development. He said ''When i met her,i told her i don't want her to do a white collar job so that she can really have time to take care of the family. She then accepted, but now she insisted on working after she had a child and started misbehaving in the house.Maybe my wife has seen another man she wants to marry that is why she called for a  divorce. Please seperate us if that is her wish. All i just want her to do is to take good care of my son anywhere she is going. The President of the court Mr Olalekan Akonde, dissolved the marriage, saying that '' It seems both parties are tired of each other. The court has sent them home before today for possible reconciliation, but it did not work.To avoid bloodshed, the marriage needs to be dissolved''.The custody of the child was given to Ester and Seun is to pay N3,000 monthly as feeding allowance.
