Tinubu To World Leaders: We Won’t Raise Taxes On Vulnerable Nigerians .....Says his administration prioritising the poor ....Governors to take position on tax bills ....We strongly support reforms – IMF President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured world leaders that his administration will continue to prioritise the welfare of the poor and most vulnerable even as the economic reforms bear fruit. President Tinubu stated this on Wednesday night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, paid him a courtesy call on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit. While acknowledging that the reforms had weakened Nigerians’ purchasing power, President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said his administration will continue to provide social safety nets to cushion the unintended consequences. According to France's socialist government today pledged to toughen up its anti face covering law after a veiled Muslim woman was ejected from a major Opera house Bastille .Her ejection from the opera house has divided opinion in the city's liberal arts community,in which cast members performing La Traviata openly objected to the presence of a woman in the audience wearing a niqab type veil.The Director of the Bastille Opera house said ''A singer spotted her in the frount row during the second act.Some performers said they didn't want to sing and she was later kicked out''.There has been a ban on muslims covering their face in public in France since the introduction of the law in 2011.The Muslim woman was from a Gulf state and she attended the performance with a friend.This is the first incident of someone being ejected from an artistic venue,because of her muslim veil.The security guard Mr Thiellay said ''I told her that in France there is a ban of this nature,then i told her to either uncover her face or leave the auditorium.I asked the woman to get up,and they left.It was unpleasant getting her to leave,but there was a misunderstanding of the law and lady either had to respect it or leave''.Na wahoooo.
