 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.                  Today wednesday,President Goodluck Jonathan announced a minor cabinet reshuffle to fill the vacancies created by the resignation of seven ministers from his government last week who resigned from the Federal Executive Council last week to contest the 2015 general election in their states.Dr Nurudeen Mohammed,the Minister of state II,for Foreign Affairs has also been asked to take over as the supervising Minister of information told State House correspondents at the end of today wednesday meeting of Federal Executive Council Ministers appointed to supervise other ministries are to act in the capacity pending when substantive ministers would be named.Dr Nurudeen replaces Labran Maku,the former Minister of information.Foreign Affairs Minister of State I,Prof.Viola Onwuliri,is now the substantive Minister of state,Education following Nye som Wike's resignation Minister of Special Duties,Taminu Turaki {SAN} is now the supervising minister of Labour and Productivity following the resignation of Chief Emeka Wogu.Minister of Defence,Alhaji Aliyu Guasu,would combine his duties with those of the minister of state,Defence following the resignation of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.Minister of Niger Delta Affair,Dr Stephen Oru,will combine his responsilities with those of the minister of state,Defence vacated by Dr Darius Ishaku,the Minister of Industry,Trade and Investment,Olusegun Aganga,will combine his duties with those of the Minister of State vacated by Samuel Ortom.One more picture below.
