 Nigeria’s NCTC Accredited as AU Regional Centre of Excellence in Counter-Terrorism Nigeria’s National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser, has been formally recognised as a Regional Centre of Excellence for West Africa and the Sahel. This was announced by the Acting Director of the African Union Counter Terrorism Centre (AUCTC), Dr. Idriss Mounir Lallali, at the recently concluded African Lessons Learned Forum, held at the NCTC, Office of the National Security Adviser, in Abuja. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, in April 2024, declared the Centre a Regional Centre of Excellence for West Africa and the Sahel at the High-Level African Counter-Terrorism Meeting held in Abuja. The declaration positions the NCTC as a regional hub for strengthening intelligence sharing, operational coordination, specialised training and capacity building in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. BURKINA FASO NEW MILITARY RULER ZIDA,PLEDGED TO HAND OVER POWER TO A CIVILIAN.

REUTERS/Joe Penney                On saturday the military appointed Lientenant Colonel Isaac Zida,the deputy Commander of the elite presidential guard,as provisional head of state,a day after President Blaise Compaore stepped down and fled to neighboring Ivory coast.In a statement today,Colonel Isaac Zida pledged to hand power to a civilian transitional government.The chaos that followed the army's move to take control of the transition drew criticism from opposition politicians and international partners.Zida met with influential King of their country today today,Majority Mossi ethnic group,Naba Baongo II who said ''Lieutenant Colonel Zida and his delegation came to say that they want to hand power over to civilians and he encourage them to move in this direction.The country must regain it's peace and calm''.
