UN SAYS 53 CONGOLESE REFUGEES HAVE DIED IN BURUNDI. (PHOTO).

 UN says 53 Congolese refugees have died in Burundi More than 50 refugees fleeing fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have died in neighbouring Burundi, the United Nations Refugee Agency told Reuters late on Friday. Of a total 53 deaths recorded, 25 people died due to a cholera outbreak, the agency said, while six others died from anemia and other complications related to malnutrition, it said. The U.N. said it was working with the health ministry and other partners to investigate the cause of the other deaths. More than 100,000 Congolese have sought refuge in Burundi since fighting near the border intensified in early December and rebels seized the town of Uvira, the UNHCR said. Jean Jacques Purusi, governor of South Kivu province where Uvira is located, described the situation in Burundi as "misery" and "a crisis completely forgotten by the international community and media." CHAOS AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AS AMINU TAMBUWAL,WAS REFUSED ENTRY INTO THE HOUSE TODAY.

                The man flying the fence is identified as Hon.Kawu Suleiman,Deputy minority leader,was pictured today jumping the fence at the National Assembly.It has been confirmed today by Lai Mohammed,the spokesperson for the All Progressive Congress APC to the press at their secretariat in Abuja that security operatives have prevented the Speaker of the House of Representatives,Aminu Tambuwa,from gaining entrance into the National Assembly complex.He said ''I spoke with Speaker Aminu Tambuwal five minutes ago and he confirmed to me that he has been locked out of the National Assembly complex at the second gate.Tambuwal is disallowed from entering the complex,his deputy Emeka Ihedioha is already in the Chamber.The Speaker reconvene the House at the instance of the President who wrote a letter to the Speaker asking for an extention of the state of emergency in three states and now his being ambushed and not allowed in.It is a sad development for our country.There must be limit to impunity and we are being ridiculed in the eyes of the world''.Witnesses said when Tambuwal was later stopped at the third gate,and was finally allowed in after a prolonged argument with security operatives,Law makers came out of the Assembly,overpowered the security and damaged the third gate to allow the speaker in.The police fired teargas and some of the lawmakers fainted after inhaling the teargas.More photos below.
