 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail. INEC SET TO IMPLEMENT CAMPAIGN EXPENSES RULES AS THEY LIFT CAMPAIGN BAN FOR 2015 ELECTIONS.

                        It was confirmed by the Electoral Commission yesterday monday that they have officially lifted the ban on campaigns for 2015 elections.According to the Chief Press Secretary of INEC Chairmam Mr Kayode Idowu said ''The commission has put structures inplace to track expenditures.That structure did not exist in 2011,but now,we have been able to put structures in place to track the expenditure of politicians and we are going to be doing that.Section 91,sub section 2-7 of the Electoral Act,dwells on limitation on Election expenses.The maximum elections expenses to be incurred by a candidate at a presidential,governorship election shall be N1 billion and N200 million,respectively.The maximum amount of election expenses to be incured of Senatorial seat by a candidate and House of Representatives shall be N40 million and N20 million respectively.While in the case of State Assembly election,the maximum amount of election expenses to be incurred shall be N10 million.Section 9{10} said,a candidate who knowing acts in contravention of this section commits an offence''.
