 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. 3 DEAD AS 8 ISLAMIC GUNMEN,ATTACKED AFRICAN UNION BASE IN SOMALIA ON CHRISTMAS DAY.

                According to a spokesperson of the African Union said eight Islamist gunmen infiltrated the main African Union base on thursday christmas day in Mogadishu,and killed three peacekeepers and a civilian contractor.Somali militant group alshabaab claimed responsibility for the attack,which lasted several hours,and said it had killed 14 peacekeepers witnesses reported hearing bomb blasts and volleys of gunfire through the day.Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musam,alshabaab's military operations spokeman said ''We targeted the enemies at a time they were celebrating christmas''.A.U peacekeeping mission in Somalia said in a statement that ''Terrorists,some of whom were disguised in Somali National Army Uniforms,breached the base camp around lunch hour and attempted tp gain access to critical infrastructure,during which five of them were killed and three others captured''.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance.” The President, however, stated that the delays were affecting the public’s perception of the administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges.
