 VANDAL CRUSHED TO DEATH UNDER COLLAPSED TRANSMISSION TOWER IN DELTA STATE A suspected vandal has been crushed to death under a collapsed vandalised  transmission tower along the 330kV Ughelli-Benin transmission line in Delta State. The incident was discovered during a line patrol carried out by the Delta Sub-Region, Lines Maintenance Department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), following the tripping of the line on earth fault on the Ughelli - Benin 330kV Transmission line. A statement by the TCN indicates that the patrol team traced the fault to Tower 101, which had collapsed. The body of the suspected vandal was found crushed between the tower members. Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli - Sapele 330kV  transmission line had also been vandalized.

39 YEARS AFTER HIS ASSASSINATION,GENERAL MURTALA MOHAMMED IS REMEMBERED TODAY,13 FEB,2015.

                Today 13 of February,marks 39 years after when General Murtala Mohammed was assassinated in 1976 after he was sworn into power in 1975.Gneral Murtala Mohammed was born on November 8,1938,to Rique Muhammed and Uwani Rhamat in Kano city.He had his early education in Kano and finished up at Government college,Zaria in 1957.He enlisted into the Nigerian Army and was sent to Britain for training at Sandhurst Royal Academy as an officer cadet.He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in 1961.He rose to the rank of Brigadier in 1971.After a year's course at Joint services staff college in Englant.He took his first political appointment as commissioner for communications in 1974 which he combined with his military duties.In his short span of 201 days in office before he was assassinated,General Mohammed's dynamic administration gave this country a new sense of direction,duty and patriotism.He would also be remembered for the creation of 19 states out of the 12,carved out in 1967 and the setting up of a public complaints commission which gave probity to our personal lives.Parents should learn to take their children to museums setup in their various states,so that their children can embrace and love the Nigeria bitter sweet history.His face is used on the new and old twenty naira note.More photos below.
